The Adidas brand started in a simple kitchen in Herzoenaurach, Bavaria. Adolf Dassler and his brother Rudolf Dassler started making shoes in their mothers wash kitchen in 1924 after Adolf, better known as Adi, returned from World War I.
In 1936 Adi took a suitcase full of shoes to the Summer Olympic and persuaded Jesse Owens, an American Sprinter, to use them causing him to be the first sponsored African American. He took home four gold medals launching the brother’s shoes to fame. By World War II the pair was selling about 200,000 pairs of shoes each year.
The two split during World War II over a misunderstanding. Adi formed the company Adidas (ADI- From his first name DAS- the first three letters of his last name). It is still a popular brand today. |
Adidas has some retail locations where they sale their shoes. If you work for an Adidas retail store you could be working in one of three different types, the sports performance, sport heritage, and factory outlet. No matter which store you work in you will be responsible for assisting customers, keeping the shelves stocked and helping to keep the store looking at its best.
