In 1976 Anita Roddick opened a natural, environmentally-minded cosmetic shop in the UK. She was inspired to open the shop after visiting a similar shop in Berkeley California. Her first shop became an instant hit even though original attention was given to it by an article about a nearby undertaker who was complaining about the name. The store grew rapidly at a rate of 50% a year.
Today, The Body Shop has over 2,600 locations in over 61 countries. The Body Shop’s founder, Anita, was called one of the UK’s true pioneers and an “inspiration” to businesswomen. She la launched a global campaign to raise self-esteem in women and against the media stereo-typing of women. They are also very conscious of social and environmental issues.
When you work at the Body Shop you can work in one of four areas. The starting position is generally the sales associate. The sales associate’s main job is the customer is the first priority at all times. You will be the person that will be interacting with the customer so you’ll need to make sure you can answer questions about the products and help customers find what they are looking for. You will be responsible for completing all sales support duties assigned by the Shop Manager and meet the sales goals set forth by the Shop Manager.

As an assistant manager you will have additional responsibilities. You will still have to assist customers by you will be responsible for maintaining a leadership role in the absence of the Shop Manager and Assistance Shop Manager. You will share in the accountability with the Shop Manager and Assistant Shop Manager for achieving the sales goals.
The assistant shop manager takes over the duties and responsibility of ta shop manager in the absence of the shop manager. As an assistant shop manager you will have to maximize sales within guidelines set forth by the operating manuals. The shop manager is responsible for operational aspects of the shop and all of the supervising functions.
