In 1865 William Carter founded the William Carter Company. Originally the company made underwear for adults. They began manufacturing children’s apparel shortly after the company started.
Slowly they decided to do away with the adult underwear section of the business to concentrate solely on making children’s clothing.
Today they are one of the leading manufacturers of children’s apparel in the United States. In 2005, the acquired their biggest competitor OshKosh B’Gosh. They operate over 700 locations world wide.
Carter’s has many retail positions that include cashier, sales staff, and stock room. To work in any of these positions you must have good people skills and be willing to assist others when necessary. As well as assisting the customers you will be responsible for keeping the store clean and tidy.
If you are looking for an upper level position with in the retail operations then you might be interested in being a business analyst. You’ll be required to set up store contests, pay roll management, report and analyze retail operations, and do some project management.

If you are looking for something that is a little more creative never fear there is something for you as well. The visual merchandising manager works with the merchant teams to determine how to set up the store so it’s visually appealing.
You will also work with the stores to develop, visual merchandising. You will have to document and communicate the directions to the store. You will also work with the merchant teams to determine what to purchase, pricing, and strategies for each season.
