In May of 1963 Ralph Hoagland along with Stanley and Sidney Goldstein opened the first Consumer Value Store, better known as CVS, or now CVS Caremark. The first stores opened under this name carried primarily health and beauty products but didn’t have pharmacies. It wasn’t until 1967 that the first CVS/Pharmacy opened its doors.
The spelling of the CVS/Pharmacy logo came from the stores in certain areas that were pharmacies having to label themselves as such. The chain continued to grow and expand purchasing many now defunct pharmacy changes across the country.
In 1996, CVS broke from the Melville Corporation it was a division of and became CVS Corporation. At this time the company sold all of its non-pharmacy store. In 2006 the chain acquired the drug store Sav-On. Today the chain is the second largest pharmacy chain in the nation with well over 7,000 stores. |
| While the big part of CVS is the pharmacy they do still need regular hourly retail workers to help make the stores run smoothly. If you are hired as an In-store customer service representative you’ll be in charge of assisting customers, answering questions, running the register and even suggesting items for purchase. |

You could also work in the photo lab, as one of their beauty 360 consultants or a pharmacy services associate.
Because the big draw to CVS is the pharmacy they are in need of talented pharmacy technicians to help maintain the pharmacy. They are also in need of well qualified licensed pharmacists to fill prescriptions and assist customers.
CVS recently partnered with the Minute Clinic and as such they are looking to establish a working relationship with local board-certified emergency care, or family practitioners. As such you’ll act as a medical director over the on staff nurse practioners and physicians assistants to give them some one to refer their patients to as necessary.
