In 1984, Do Won Chang opened the first Fashion 21 store in Los Angeles California. The store was originally designed targeting middle-aged Korean American women. The store quickly became a hit with other nationalities. By the end of the first year sales topped $700,000. They expanded at a rate of a new store every six months. By 1989 they changed their name from Fashion 21 to Forever 21.
In 1989 they opened their first mall location in Panorama Mall, Panorama California. Since its success at the mall they started opening them in malls exclusively. They recently took over some of the Mervyn’s stores and opened them as standalone locations. Today they have over 480 locations and 30,000 employees worldwide.
Since they are a retail location the most important position that they have is the sales associate position. As the sales associate you will be required to greet customers as they come in the store. You have to be able to assist customers with their purchases. You will have to provide excellent customer service and obtain maximum sales results. You will also have to help make sure that the floor is well stocked and cleaned.
As a stock associate at Forever 21 you will be in charge of maintaining stock on the sales floor. You will have to unpack the incoming orders and receive them. You will also have to be able to work under pressure, multi-task and follow directions. You might also have to assist in keeping the store clean.
If you are interested in styling you can work as the visual merchandiser for one of the retail stores. You will be responsible for creating window and merchandise displays using the visual guidelines. You will also be required to assist in generating sales using the visual guidelines set down by corporate. As the visual merchandiser you’ll also be responsible for providing shopping ease for the customers.
