Fry's Electronics is headquartered in Sunnyvale California and its first store was opened in 1985. The brother's Fry, John, Randy, and Dave, got the seed money for their electronics store from their father. Charles Fry had been successful in the grocery business, & and sold his franchise, Fry's Supermarket, for $40 million.

He then gave a portion to each son to do what they wished. Since none of the boys were interested in the grocery business they decided to pool their money and open an electronics store instead.

Fry's began by stocking high-tech supplies such as software, computer components, integrated circuits, and test and measurement equipment. They also sold tech books, porno magazines, T- shirts and snacks.

Fry’s electronics owns 34 stores. These ones are very large and require a wide variety of employees to maintain their badness.

Another offshoot was the mall-based chain of electronics stores called "Impulse." These stores carried small personal electronics and cell phones. In 1995 the name was changed to Fry's Electronics express to capitalize on the Fry's Electronics name.

One thing you won't find at Fry's is a stockroom. At the edge of the showroom so if you are a floor person you will be required to help restock your shelving. Floor associates are located throughout the store in order to assist customers with their questions. Knowledge of technology is a plus but not necessarily required to gain employment.

Customer service is also a position that is available. By working the customer service desk you will assist customers with returns and exchanges. Cashiers also play an important role. Your job will be to ensure that all merchandise is checked out. Quick, efficient, friendly service is necessary to ensure high customer satisfaction.

Of course management positions are available. There are department managers, shift managers, assistant managers, and store managers. Their job is to help ensure things run smoothly and assist customers as needed. Security is also tight at these stores so security guards posted at the doors are required. As a guard your job would be to very bag contents against the receipt to ensure shop lifting is kept to a minimum.
