After the Standard Oil break-up in 1911, Standard Oil Company of New York (also known as Socony) was founded. Nine years later Socony registered the company’s trademark as “Mobiloil.” In 1931, Socony merged with Vacuum Oil becoming Socony-Vacuum.
In 1955, Socony-Vacuum was renamed Socony Mobil Oil Compay. A few years later they changed it simply to Mobil and introduced a new logo. In 1998 Mobil and Exxon began a merger that was completed in 1999 creating the company ExxonMobil.

As an employee you’ll have to assist customers when necessary. You’ll also have to keep the store clean and stocked. You’ll have to take delivery of stock as it comes into the store. Because of the nature of the job you must have to lift twenty-five pounds or more and be able to withstand extreme temperatures due to having to stock items in the coolers.
Some of these convenience stores have automobile repair shops. If you are a mechanic you could find a position here. You’ll have to be able to perform a variety of tasks. Mostly you’ll be dealing with oil changes and tire changes. You’ll need to be ASE certified to handle other types of repairs.
As an ExxonMobil store manager you’ll be responsible for hiring the employees at your store, and mechanics if applicable. You’ll have to make sure that your store is meets its sales quota. You’ll also be responsible for making sure that the stock has been ordered correctly as well as making all the deposits each day.
