In September 1962 Alexander Grass opened the first Thrift D Discount Center. The chain grew rapidly and within three years the store grew to include stores in 5 northeastern states including its home state of Pennsylvania. It wasn't until 1968 that the chain officially changed its name to Rite Aid.
Within ten years of the first Thrift D Discount store's opening Rite Aid had 267 locations and could be found in ten states. By 1981 Rite Aid was the third largest pharmacy in the United States. Today, Rite Aid can be found nationwide with over 4,500 stores carrying the Rite Aid name.
Rite Aid is first and foremost a drugstore. That means that people head here to get their various prescriptions filled. If you are a licensed pharmacist you might be able to distinguish yourself here. They employ several licensed pharmacists to help fill the many prescriptions that come in the door. Rite Aid expects their pharmacists to be helpful and friendly, giving them the neighborhood pharmacy type of feeling.
There are other positions in your local Rite Aid store that might interest you. If you are a certified pharmacy technician there are positions available.
You'll help to ensure prompt service in the pharmacy department by assisting customers and operating the cash register. You'll accept customer and prescription information from doctors' offices, retrieve appropriate medication from inventory and other tasks.
