In 1907, The Royal Dutch Shell Group was created when the "Shell" Transport and Trading Company of the United Kingdom and the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company merged. The Shell Oil Company is the United States-based subsidiary of this company.
The US Based company has around 25,000 gas stations nationwide with almost as many employees. The company is currently in a 50/50 ownership with the Saudi Arabian government-owned oil company Saudi Aramco. In 1997, Shell and Texaco entered two joint ventures, one of which combined their Midwestern and western operations.
After Texaco merged with Chevron Shell purchased Texaco's shares in the ventures and a year later Shell converted the Texaco stations to Shell stations.
Shells basic form of employment is at one of their local gas stations. As a gas station attendant you will be responsible for the store.
You'll need to be able to clean and stock the shelves, clean the bathroom, and handle the customers. You'll have to greet the customers and assist them as needed. You'll also be responsible for cashing out the customers. You'll have to take delivery of stock as it comes in.
As a store manager you'll be responsible for making sure that your store is well staffed. You will be responsible for hiring and scheduling your store. You'll need to make sure that your store promotes items to help your sales figures meet a specific goal.
They also employ truckers to haul their gas from the refinery to the stores. To be one of their gas truckers you'll have to have a hazard classification on your commercial driver's license. You'll also have to follow all the standard safety precautions to ensure that your deliveries are completed safely and on time.
