In 1939 the Travelodge opened its doors for the first time in San Diego. This chain of motels is one of the first motel chains in the United States by Scott King. The chain started out emphasizing the fact it was a budget motel.
It was a no frills chain that offered functional amenities such as free TV and room phones, in-room coffee pots, comfortable beds. Travel lodge is now franchised by Wyndham Worldwide.
One of the most important employment opportunities that can be found with Travelodge is the front desk worker.
As a front desk worker you’ll have to greet guests as they come in the office. You’ll have to know about the rates and specials that the hotel is offering.
You’ll also have to be able to direct guests to nearby eateries or other areas of interest. You’ll have to have some computer experience in or der to be able to book guests into rooms. You will also have to handle payment transactions in order to check out guests.
Another important job that can be found with the Travelodge is the housekeeping positions. As a housekeeper you’ll be required to clean the guest rooms as required. You’ll have to dust all the furniture, vacuum the floors, empty the waste baskets and make the beds. When a guest checks out you’ll have to change the sheets completely putting fresh sheets and blankets on the bed. You’ll also have to put clean towels in the bathrooms and replace things like soap, shampoo, and coffee. In addition to cleaning the guest rooms you’ll have to help keep the common areas of the hotel clean and straightened.
Maintenance workers are staffed occasionally in order to keep the rooms in working order. They will also have to help keep the pool clean and operational.
