Morris Zale, William Zale, and Ben Lipshy opened the first Zales Jewelers store in Graham, Texas in 1924. They started out by offering credit plans to customers. In 1924, credit plans weren’t common. Their slogan was “a penny down and a dollar a week.” By the time World War II began the company had a dozen stores.
In 1944, Zales acquired Corrigan’s of Dallas. In 1957, they opened their first shopping center store and listed the company on the American Stock Exchange.
Today there are over 1,700 locations nationwide.
Probably the most important position at Zales is the Retail Sales Consultants. As a retail sales consultant has to be someone who can multi-task and work well with people. It’s your job to help customers find the perfect piece of jewelry.
Whether they are looking for a piece that is for a wedding or a special order piece, such as a mother’s ring, it’ll be your job to ensure they will be able to find the pieces that they need. You will have to be able to run the computer, cash out customers, and keep the store looking nice. On top of all that, for the rest of your life, you will be able to know all about jewelry and how to spot the real deal and more importantly how to spot fake jewelry.

Another important role at Zales is the store manager. As the store manager you will be responsible for maximizing store sales. You will have to ensure that your store is staffed with adequate manpower. You’ll have to train employees and you will be required to develop and promote a sales culture in the store. It’s your job to drive all sales-related goals. You need to have a background in retail sales.
They also need people to do jeweler remount specialist. You’ll be working as a Trunk Show Jeweler repairing jeweler at special events. You’ll need to be able to create, re-size, mount and repair jewelry for special retail event guests. You’ll position stones and metal pieces. You’ll have to create jewelry form materials such as gold, silver, platinum, and precious stones. You’ll have to be able to enlarge or reduce ring sizes as well.
