G-Star was founded in 1989 and originally specialized in military style street clothes. They produced jeans, shirts, and other articles of clothing. Originally the stores were named Gap Star but changed to the name to simply G-Star when they went international.
The original store was opened in Kingston Jamaica and is currently headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. G-Star is probably best known for its “Raw” denim line of clothing, which is untreated and unwashed denim. They started marketing the “Ra” line in 1996 and subsequently many of the clothes in this line bear a “96” on them to mark the beginning of the line.
Today G-Star has more than 6000 locations worldwide. Their store staff has to be denim minded. They are well known for their “Raw” denim so you must know all about it. Sales driven and up on all the trends are a requirement.
