In the mid-1920’s Charles O’Reilly started out in the auto supply business as a traveling salesman for Fred Campbell Auto Supply. Because his travels took him to the Springfield area frequently he decided to transfer there permanently.
By the early 1930’s he had become manager of Link Motor Supply in Springfield. When the company planned on reorganizing in 1957 they planned to retire O’Reilly and move his son, Chub, to Kansas City. The pair didn’t like the idea so they opened their own store O’Reilly Automotive.
They started with one store and thirteen employees. Today O’Reilly Auto Parts has over 3,000 locations nationwide.
Their Parts are in need of good associates to assist their customers. As a store cashier/merchandising associate you’ll be responsible for keeping the area stocked, fronted and cleaned. You’ll have to stock merchandise according to corporate plans, and you’ll be responsible for completing sales preparation. You may also have to deliver parts or products to professional customers.
A store counter sales associate has to be able to assist the customers. You’ll be the person they ask for help obtaining parts and advice on what part or substitution of parts are needed. To do this job you’ll need knowledge of technical parts and a background in mechanics.
If you are really good with automotive engines then you might consider working in the Store Machine Shop. Here you’ll be responsible for repairing engine blocks, heads, crankshafts, rods, blocks, flywheels, brake drums, and rotors. You will have to be able to conform to strict quality control policies.
O’Reilly offers it’s team members a comprehensive benefits package. The package includes medical, dental, pharmacy insurance. Vision insurance, life insurance, short term disability and long term disability are also included. They also have profit sharing, 401(k), purchase discount, vacation pay, sick pay, and personal pay.
