Pottery Barn was founded in 1950 by Paul and Morris Secon. They are headquartered in San Francisco, California. The main items they sell are home furnishings. At one time the chain was owned by Gap, Inc. but in September of 1986 Williams-Sonoma, Inc. purchased the Pottery Barn and they have been a wholly owned subsidiary ever since.
Since being acquired by Williams-Sonoma Pottery Barn has opened two more specialty stores, Pottery Barn Kids and PB Teen.
They also have two retail catalogs: Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Bed & Bath. Since Pottery Barn is a subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma many of the corporate, distribution, and call center jobs may over lap. Williams-Sonoma generally has their own distribution centers but there might be a little overlap occasionally.
Working for one of their distribution centers means you will be responsible for ensuring that the appropriate merchandise is pulled, loaded, and sent to the appropriate site. You may also have to fill mail order requests as well and ensure that they are sent to the appropriate home

You’ll work in store to assist their customers with their purchases. You’ll ensure that the store is clean and well stocked. If customers have questions you are the first person that will be there to assist them.
Other duties will be assigned as needed by your supervisor or department manager. You can also man the customer service desk. Here you’ll be handling customer returns and exchanges.< Pottery Barn's corporate vision—to enhance their customers' quality of life at home—extends to the lives of their associates.
