Ralphs kosher store is one of the major grocery store chains in Southern California. Ralphs dates back to 1873 when founder George A. Ralphs opened his first store.
The business continued to grow and expand. Ralphs self-service market so with checkout stand made George A. Ralphs a grocery pioneer. In 1997 Ralphs merged with Fred Myers Inc. Greg Myers in turn merged with Kroger in 1998.
This structure makes Ralphs the largest subsidiary of Kroger’s. It is also the oldest subsidiary west of the Mississippi.
