The first ever Red Rooster crowed in Australia in 1972, by the hands of the Kailis family, and the business was sold to the Myer Emporium in 1981. In 1992, Red Rooster bought the Big Rooster chain and transformed it to Red Rooster’s as well, and by 2012 the chain has 360 stores spread through the entire Australian continent.
Australians seem to do it better, as their menu of wraps, chicken and fish hamburgers and sandwiches feature 14 choices of original food. Sandwiches are well represented by the Aussie classic that is the Rooster Roll, a massive stacked roasted chicken sandwich served with mayonnaise and herbs in a warm sesame seed big roll, as well as the Peri Peri Baguette, a succulent Peri Peri chicken breast fillet with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise in a freshly baked baguette.
The same goes for the chicken burgers, with highlights like the Original Crispy Burger, a crispy chicken breast fillet with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayonnaise in a soft sesame seed bun. Of the three available wraps, the Flayva, consisting of two crunchy chicken breast strips, herb sauce, lettuce, cheddar cheese and tomato in a fresh tortilla and the Fish Wrap, with a Smooth or Black Oreodory fish fillet, lettuce and tartar sauce in a tortilla wrap are the most popular.
Seafood is quite trendy too, so the chain devised a menu where the classic Fish & Chips, the Salt & Pepper Squid, the Pawns and the Seafood Basket) composed of the three previous treats) reign. To complete the feast, the chain serves salads, Crispy Strips, French fries, Roast Drumsticks and Nuggets. Red Rooster‘s desserts are delicious, even though they consist of only four specialties: the chocolate mousse, the chocolate pudding, the Sticky date pudding and the raspberry cheesecake.
As with most restaurants, they have a fun and synergistic work environment that makes working for them a pleasure.
