Within ten years of the first Thrift D Discount store’s opening Rite Aid had 267 locations and could be found in ten states. By 1981 Rite Aid was the third largest pharmacy in the United States. Today, Rite Aid can be found nationwide with over 4,500 stores carrying the Rite Aid name.Rite Aid is first and foremost a drugstore.
